7月の反省会

ミクロネシア連邦（FSM）に到着してから4か月が経ちました。

前回の日記からも随分時間を空けてしまいました。

It has been four months since I arrived in the Federated States of Micronesia.

Besides, it took quite a long time from the previous post.

7月は2週目にボランティア総会（任国のボランティアが集まり活動報告、意見交換を行う行事で年2回あります。）が行われました。

また、FSMの場合は他州のボランティアが首都のあるポンペイ州まで来ることは容易ではないため、安全対策協議会というものも同時に行われます。

We hold the Volunteer’s general meeting which is for activity report of each volunteers and advise exchange with each other in the second week on this July.

Additionally, in the case of FSM, since it’s not easy for every volunteer excluding ones in the capital city to move there, JICA office holds security measure council at the same time with it.

今回のボランティア総会は平成26年1次隊の到着に合わせて行われましたので、後輩隊員と初めての顔合わせ。

後輩、といっても自分自身その時点で3か月程度しか経っていなかったので大差はありませんが。

We could meet with junior volunteers because it was held with the arrival of them.

Although even I just arrived three months ago at that time, referring them as “junior” is quite weird to me.

  

ところで、FSMはJICAがボランティアを派遣している国々の中でも例外的にシニアボランティアの数が多い国です。

その割合はたしか70％以上。

個人的にはシニアボランティア制度に対して廃止するべきという立場なので、なんとも居心地の悪い総会でした(笑)。

（↑こんなこと書いていますけど、シニアの方々の中には素晴らしい人格者の方もいらっしゃるので、お話しして勉強になったことは1度や2度どころではありません。）

By the way, in FSM the proportion of volunteers who are dispatched by JICA is exceptionally opposite from other countries.

The percentage of senior volunteers is more than 70%.

Personally speaking, I am against senior volunteer programs, so it made me uncomfortable during the sessions.

(Writing above, nevertheless some senior volunteers are very kind and generous. I appreciate it.)

また、総会期間中に同じ職種でもうすぐ帰国される先輩隊員からアドバイスを多々いただきました。

活動の方向性が僕と近いので大いに参考にさせてもらいます(笑)。

Additionally, while I was staying in Phonpei state, I was often presented many advises by a superior volunteer who is the same job with me and will be back to Japan soon.

His activities are quite similar to mine, so I will imitate it. Lol

今月中旬はJ-PRISMというJICAから委託された日本人専門家の方に同行しました。

まぁ、特に新しいことをしたわけではありませんが(笑)。

ただ、今後の活動に関して背中を押されました。

あとはとっとと例の社会調査を始めないと・・・！（なんとまだ始めてなかった。）

After coming back to my assigned state, I had accompanied with a Japanese specialist for “J-PRISM” who was commissioned to be in charge with it by JICA.

Nothing new though, but she pushed my back regarding my activities.

Anyway, I have to the environmental consciousness survey ASAP!!
